Are my photos uploaded?

No. Compression happens in your browser on your own device.

How small can a photo get?

Usually 70 to 90% smaller than a phone photo. For very small targets the photo is also made a little smaller in pixels.

Will the quality drop?

At 70% quality most people see no difference. Lower values give smaller files but can show blocky areas.

Can I compress PDFs here?

Not yet on the website. The A2Z Image Craft app can compress PDFs.
