Is my photo uploaded?

No. The cut-out runs inside your browser on your own device. The first time, your browser downloads the 4.5 MB cut-out tool from this website; after that it is kept in the browser.

How long does it take?

A few seconds on a computer, up to about 20 seconds on an older phone.

Which photos work best?

A clear subject in front of a background that looks different from it. Hair and see-through objects may need a little fixing with the brush.

What is the cut-out tool?

It is U²-Net (u2netp), an open-source model under the Apache 2.0 licence, running on your device.
